Chesham were without 6 first teamers going into the top of the table clash with 2nd place Newbury. Without a recognised senior forward Lidia Niedertubbesing Lopez was called up from the Under 18s and Steph Weston recalled from university. Sarah Harrison started up front with Weston as Chesham took 15 minutes to get into their stride, young Aoife Hanling had an early opportunity at the far

post but couldn’t convert.  Soon the home side were working the ball round well and when Hanling set Weston on the edge of the area, the call up paid off as she curled a shot into the top corner.

Chesham continued to press, Lopez replaced Harrison and showed some neat touches before Weston fired in her 2nd from a similar range to give Chesham a 2 goal cushion at the interval.

The second half saw Chesham's back line drop a little too deep and invite Newbury on to them, the visitors kept possession well but Chesham’s defence stood firm and regained their dominance through the midfield. Lopez latched onto a through ball rounded the keeper and tucked away the third well. Tasha Smith had opportunities cutting in from the left but couldn't finish. On 65

minutes Delves ran from midfield and finished neatly to put the game out of Newbury's site. Chantelle O’ Grady made a long awaited return as Chesham secured a comfortably victory and remain unbeaten in the league. More good news was coming as title rivals Oxford City lost to 1-0 to Shanklin as the Isle of Wight team picked up their first points of the season. Leaving Chesham 4 points clear at the top of the Southern Premier with 3 games in hand, and a step closer to promotion to the FA women’s Premier League.
